The Seychelles Revenue Commission and the Anti-Corruption Commission of Seychelles signs an MOU

THURSDAY 11 MARCH 2021, VICTORIA, SEYCHELLES: The Anti-Corruption Commission Seychelles (ACCS) and the Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 09th March 2021 at the SRC Headquarters at Maison Collet in Victoria.

The MoU was signed by the respective heads of both institutions and for both Parties it sets the tone for co-operation, assistance and mutual exchange of information for the purpose of ensuring compliance with the relevant national laws and international conventions including international standards and commitments. Both the ACCS and SRC are members on the National Anti-Money Laundering / Combating the Financing of Terrorism Committee (NAC) established in February 2019.

The NAC sets the strategic direction for the Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism framework and direct measures for effective implementation of the framework.

Mrs. May De Silva, the CEO of ACCS stated that "the establishment of the MoU is thus in line with international standards to strengthen the working relationship between law enforcement authorities, regulators and other key partners when it comes to fighting and preventing financial and economic crimes in Seychelles".

The Commissioner General of SRC, Mrs. Veronique Herminie stressed on her part "the need for better coordination on exchange of information and work approaches between the two institutions. The MOU is vital especially when dealing with complex cases involving both financial crimes and tax fraud."

The MOU signed by the two Parties is also expected to facilitate training or awareness sessions for officers and relevant stakeholders on the respective legal framework and any other matters of mutual interest.

The ACCS and the SRC look forward to continue working together and remains committed to strengthen the existing relationship between both institutions in the future.
